What is a tanning accelerator?

Tanning lotions are aloe vera and water based moisturizers with added vitamins to condition and nourish skin. Most importantly, accelerators contain Tyrosine. It stimulates production of a pigment found in skin called melanin. When melanin is triggered, it rises to the epidermal layer of the skin. As melanin encounters UV light, it turns brown. The more melanin on the surface, the deeper your tan. Perfect Tan offers a variety of lotions that have anti-aging and skin firming properties.

How do I choose the right accelerator?

Level 1 Accelerators contain moisturizers, vitamins and-1 type of Tyrosine - A good way to start tanning.

Level 2 Accelerators contain moisturizers, vitamins, oils, and 2 or more types of Tyrosine and can work on varied skin types and improve most base tans quickly and very effectively.

Level 3 Accelerators have better moisturizers, vitamins, essential oils and 3-7 types of Tyrosine for maximum tanning potential on every skin type.

Are there different kinds of Accelerators?

· Moisturizing accelerators with various types of Tyrosine compounds.

· Bronzing accelerators are basic accelerators with added self tanners.
To insure an even application, moisturize skin well before applying.
Remember to remove excess bronzer from hands.

· Tingling products stimulate the skin causing the blood to rush to the surface. The melanin comes closer to the skin surface where it absorbs the UV rays, and turns brown. Tingle factor lotions produce the ultimate tanning result, but are not recommended for sensitive skin or fair- skinned tanners. Skin feels hot and red.

· Cooling products contain menthol or other cooling ingredients to refresh and enhance summer tanning, while moisturizing and conditioning skin.

Can I use any lotion I want while tanning?:

No, indoor tanning lotions are formulated specifically for use with tanning equipment. Indoor tanning lotions and accelerators actually can enhance and stimulate the body's natural tanning process. Tanning lotion applied just before a tanning session will help prepare the skin to tan more effectively and help a tan last longer. Please do not use outdoor tanning products at Perfect Tan! They can damage the acrylic surfaces of the beds.
